What is Felted Soap?
Our “Wooly Washers” are our version of felted soap. They are one-of-a-kind pieces of functional art. Each soap is wet-felted by hand in Pendleton wool roving. The process involves slowly agitating the wool back and forth in hot and cold water until the fibers become entwined and form a cohesive textile covering around the soap. Designs are then meticulously needle-felted onto the surface.

How do you use felted soap?
Wet soap and start scrubbing. Soap suds will come through the wool. When the soap is gone, make a slit in the felt and slide in a new bar. Wool fibers will felt back together with use, or you may treat the felt as a washcloth. To maintain the softness of the wool, consider adding a drop of lanolin to the felt with each new bar.
How do I order a felted soap?
We are currently selling felted soap at our markets and a few designs are available online, however, if you would like a custom felted soap, feel free to contact us with a picture of your desired felted soap image, and any specific requests. Custom felted soaps range from $40 to $100 each depending on the level of complexity of the request and are subject to approval by the artist.
